Level 5 English Grammar & Writing Mechanics
Summer Solutions 5th Grade English Grammar & Writing Mechanics is for students entering 6th Grade. Without ongoing practice, literacy skills lag over the summer break. However, students can bridge the summer learning gap with 5th Grade Grammar. All educational standards require children leaving Grade 5 to recognize shifts in verb tense, use commas to separate introductory phrases, employ appropriate punctuation for titles, vary sentence structure, use context clues and root words to grasp new vocabulary, and comprehend types of sayings, idioms, and proverbs. Using the summer workbook, students complete 30 lessons of mixed review over a 10-week period, and this ongoing practice ensures retention of all the language arts concepts covered in fifth grade. Additional skills in the workbook include using common spelling rules, correcting fragments and run-ons, balancing subject-verb agreement, using resources to build vocabulary, and analyzing information in charts and graphs, as well as developing a writing process. By completing just one lesson three days a week, students enter sixth grade ready to begin learning new material right away. These summer workbooks include Help Pages and a complete answer key.
